Has CCP considered the concept of releasing the patches to a download cache on our machines the DAY BEFORE it GOES LIVE?
That way, we don't have to wait until up time to download 550mb (for a render engine) before logging on.
Sure there is some last minute tweaks, but that is due to a bad test strategy, but even with that you can still last minute deploy a SMALLER patch.
I don't see why this cannot be done as I'm sure you have frozen your release a day or so before (or maybe even futher before) going live.
Just suggesting because there is customers here where patch day is very painful. (Kind of like trying to play Blu Ray, or sodomizing oneself with a Blu Ray box)
no point in letting everyone d/l something that even CCP doesnt know wether it will work properly when patched onto TQ.

Quote: We realize this is a bit out of the ordinary for EVE Online's standard two expansion a year policy but we're confident that the benefits will be obvious to everyone in the long run. More polished, more excellent features. More frequent and smaller releases. Less risky and long deployments.
that was from a dev blog last November....I guess CCP forgot about that.

5 users currently on the now ironically named Tranquility Server.
ED: starting up in 3 mins.
Impotent Server would be more apt.

thank **** they are sticking to the anouncement that they made in November about more small, less time intensive updates.
